Abstract
Foliar sprays of liquid calcium fertilizer (LCF) manufactured from oyster shell extracts resulted in increased calcium concentration in leaves and fruit stalk, but not in fruits, at 35 days after the applications. However, the applications increased calcium concentration in leaves, fruit peel and fruit flesh at harvest compared to untreated ones. There was no significant difference in increasing total fruit calcium between LCF and CaCl©ü. Foliar sprays of LCF did not affect the concentration of soluble solids and fruit weight, but increased fruit firmness. Most of the calcium recovered from LCF treated fruits was water soluble.
